Widow's Well

Dear Friend, I recently returned from Mozambique, where I witnessed both deep pain and extraordinary hope in the land of the living. I spent time with Rolland and Heidi Baker of Iris Ministries, where teams from around the world have joined hands to serve communities in great need. Today, there are churches, schools, a university, clinics, farms, and so much more. But above all, the Gospel of Jesus Christ remains at the center of it all. I came home carrying renewed hope in my heart. Africa has a way of challenging you deeply while also reminding you what becomes possible when people open their hearts to the purposes of God. My calling is no different from yours or Heidi’s. We are all called by Jesus to follow Him and obey His voice as He leads us. Though our assignments may look different, they carry the same fruit: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” — Mark 12:31 The faith to obey God is what challenges most of us. Today, I take your hand in prayer and simply ask: “Lord Jesus, please help us.” Thirteen years ago, I found myself praying beside my young son, Josh, for a friend of my mother’s who had nowhere to stay. She was a widow who had not only lost her husband, but whose whole world had fallen apart. That night, my prayer was simple: “Dear Lord Jesus, please may I ask that You give us a house for the widows.” Over the years, I watched the widows around me grow silent as their smiles slowly faded beneath the weight of grief, loneliness, and uncertainty of having no place to stay. Then one evening, I had a picture in my heart of a widow standing at a well, asking Jesus: “Lord, where do You sleep?” The next day, I received a prayer request from a widow with the very same uncertainties. And quietly, the Lord spoke to my heart: “It is time to find the house.” Our vision is not only to provide housing, but to establish a house of prayer — a place of restoration where women can rediscover their dignity, healing, value, and purpose in the Kingdom of God. The search began, but houses were too small and lacked the potential we were praying for. This is not simply about finding another building. We are believing for a home that carries protection, peace, restoration, and new beginnings — a place where broken hearts can breathe again and where hope can be restored from the inside out. Recently, a generous donor committed between $450,000 and $500,000 toward this vision. Then we found the property. This home has the potential to provide 11 widows with their own small private apartment — giving each woman both community and dignity, while also creating space for prayer, support, healing, and restoration. |

I often think about the widow’s two small coins that meant so much to Jesus, while appearing so small in the eyes of men. Her offering declared: “Lord, I trust You with all I have… and all I am.” And I believe Heaven responded. The McPherson Faith Foundation is also registered with TrustBridge, allowing international donors to receive tax certificates for qualifying donations, if needed. In South Africa we also issue tax certificates. I have peace in my heart that God will do it His way, because these widows belong to Him. You and I are simply His hands and feet. Thank you for allowing us to share this vision with you. With love and gratitude, Tinus and Retah McPherson If you need more information about this project, please feel free to contact us.
May every step we take be aligned with the heart of God. |
