Trusting God's Ways

THE MESSAGE FOR TODAY

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”- Isaiah 55:8-9

Abba Father prepares our hearts to return. The King comes near, and our hearts are invited to make Aliyah - to come up, to return, to come home. But there is something beautiful about this return: the heart does not return in fear. It returns through love.

The Breadbasket is full again.

He invites us to draw closer.

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”- James 4:8

Ruth is such a beautiful picture of entering a field without yet understanding what the field contained. She simply went out to glean.

That is called a walk of faith.

Ruth did not know that the field she entered belonged to Boaz. She did not know what was waiting for her there. She did not yet understand the redemption that was hidden inside an ordinary day of gathering grain.

But Naomi could see something Ruth could not yet see.

Ruth saw grain.

Naomi recognized the kinsman-redeemer.

Ruth saw provision for today, but Naomi understood that God was restoring inheritance.

“Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, ‘Blessed be he of the LORD, who has not forsaken His kindness to the living and the dead!’ And Naomi said to her, ‘This man is a relation of ours, one of our close relatives.’”- Ruth 2:20

Suddenly, the field was no longer merely a field.

The grain was no longer merely grain.

Behind the provision stood redemption.

Behind the kindness stood covenant.

Behind what Ruth thought was simply enough bread for today, God was already preparing a future she could not yet see.

The inheritance of mercy and grace spoke, and Ruth began to see for herself that it is the kindness of the Lord that leads the heart home.

“The goodness of God leads you to repentance.”- Romans 2:4

This is the deep question for us today:

Will you return to the heart of the Father without understanding it all?

Can you trust His ways before you see where the road is going?

Can you enter the field when you do not yet know what the field contains?

Sometimes the heart must come out of its hiding place and simply take one step of faith.

Greet your inheritance.

Abraham understood something about this. Scripture says that he saw the promise from afar and greeted it by faith.

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them…”- Hebrews 11:13

There are promises we hold before we possess them. There are fields we enter before we understand them. There are doors we walk toward simply because we believe the One who called us. 

INHERITANCE - THE WIDOW'S WELL

Today we are still standing in faith for the outstanding $400,000 needed to purchase a home for The Widow's Well.

The vision is for a home with several apartments where widows can live safely and with dignity, together with a shared kitchen and lounge area where community can be restored around the table.

It is not merely a building.

I see a house of prayer.

I see a safe place for widows who need both a home and a community. I see a place where people can gather to pray over the prayer requests entrusted to us. I see hearts being healed, lives being restored and women discovering that their season of fruitfulness is not over.

I saw a house, and I greeted the promise.

But I also know something I have learned through the years:

I must trust God’s ways more than I trust the picture I have seen.

God may lead us to this house, or He may lead us to another house. He may open a door we have not even considered.

It might even be that God will give McPherson Faith Foundation a house for the widows.

I do not know how He will do it

But I know Who He is.

This is a project I have carried in prayer for approximately fifteen years in my heart.

Someone may ask, Why don’t you stop? Why don’t you give up hope?

Because when I ask God for His will alone, I must also be willing to walk it out until I see for myself that His ways truly are higher than my ways.

Faith does not tell God how the promise must arrive.

Faith trusts the One who made the promise.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”- Proverbs 3:5–6

Today I see new wine, a new day and a new dawn.

And with it comes an intentional choice of the heart to say:

I am who God YHVH says I am.

Not who yesterday said I was.

Not who disappointment said I was.

Not who circumstances say I am.

I am who God says I am.

And therefore, we continue walking.

And I believe there is something very significant about the widows themselves.

They are not merely women who need to be cared for.

They still carry something to give.

Titus speaks of the older women teaching and strengthening the younger generation. Their wisdom, testimony, prayer and years of walking with God can become an inheritance for those coming behind them.

“The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior… teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women…”— Titus 2:3–4

Imagine a house where those who thought their useful years were behind them discover that God still has oil in their lamps.

Imagine a house where prayer rises morning and evening.

Imagine widows becoming mothers in the faith to another generation.

Perhaps that is part of the Breadbasket becoming full again. 

TRUSTING HIS WAYS

For 22 years in ministry, we have walked together and watched the hand of God move on our behalf again and again.

There have been mountains we could not move ourselves.

There have been fields we entered without knowing what they contained.

There have been moments when we could see only enough grain for today, while God was already preparing something much greater.

And through it all, one truth remains:

Seek Him first.

Jesus said:“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”- Matthew 6:33

Seek first His Kingdom and His right standing.

Then trust Him with the rest.

So let us follow through.

Let us enter the field.

Let us gather what He places before us today.

Let us trust Him with what we cannot yet see.

And when we recognize His hand, let us have the courage to say:

I greeted the promise before I possessed it.I trusted His heart before I understood His ways.

And I discovered that the field contained more than grain — it contained redemption.

The King is near.

The Breadbasket is becoming full again.

And Abba is calling His children closer.
