The House without Borders
THE WIDOW'S WELL - McPHERSON FAITH FOUNDATION “The house without borders” is how I see Widows Well - a home whose love reaches beyond its walls. It is not only for the women who will live in the house, but also for the wider community of widows whose lives we hope to touch with care, prayer, and practical help. I saw this house in faith before I even spoke about it. At night, when I closed my eyes, I began to see the house and the widows. I saw a place where women could receive help from the inside out, where their hearts could be heard and their dignity honoured. We all need a community of faith. We all need somewhere we can breathe, belong, and know that we do not have to carry everything alone. Widows Well has become a reaching out of many hearts around the world. Through your prayers, your generosity, and your willingness to take hands with us, something that once lived quietly in my heart is becoming a home. Only by God’s grace do we receive the privilege of getting to sow. Giving is a gift in itself. Jesus taught us that there is blessing in opening our hands and making room for another person’s need. Acts 20:35 says: I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ How could I ever thank God enough for His mercy and grace? He teaches us to look deeper than what we see on the outside. Behind a smile may be loneliness. Behind a quiet woman may be a heart wondering how she will manage another month, or where she will lay her head in safety. We cannot answer every need, but we can open our hearts to the person God places before us. We can listen. We can pray. We can share what we have. Sometimes a simple act of kindness helps someone believe that hope is still possible. And as we give, we remember where our own life comes from. Jesus is the well that does not run dry. We cannot replace Him in another person’s life, but we can make His love visible through the way we care. Jesus said in John 4:14: But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. My prayer is that Widows Well will be a house of prayer and a place of restoration. A home where women are treated with comfort, dignity, and love. A place where grief is met with tenderness, where faith is nourished, and where each woman is valued as a person with a story, a voice, and a future. The house will be a house of prayer. A community inside out. There are widows in the wider community who also need food, household supplies, friendship, encouragement, and someone who remembers them. James 1:27 says:Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Thank you to everyone who has taken our hands in this journey. Thank you for every prayer, every gift, and every quiet act of obedience. Each contribution helps us prepare a home and extend care to women beyond its doors. If you have anything extra like furniture, kitchen appliances, bedroom supplies, linen, lounge or outdoor furniture, curtains or food that you would like to contribute, please contact our office at office@retahmcpherson.com. You have no idea how we appreciate everything. Together, may we make this home a living expression of the love of Jesus Christ. May those who enter find welcome and may those beyond its walls know that they have not been forgotten. Lord Jesus, thank You for allowing us to take part in what You are doing. Keep our hearts tender and our ears open. Teach us to love with wisdom, to give with joy, and to honour each woman entrusted to our care. Blessings, Retah and family |
