The Guide through the storm

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:34)

Give all of your attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever difficult things may come when the time arrives.

Our test is to meet today’s problems with today’s strength. Don’t start tackling tomorrow’s problems until tomorrow - because you don’t have tomorrow’s strength yet. There is simply enough strength for each day. This saying is so true: one day at a time. This is the way we manage with Aldo and every uncertainty considering his future.

I am having a good time in Australia. I see God working in ways I did not expect. He is an amazing God and He wants to touch His children, heal their broken hearts and love them unconditionally. He wants to set the captives free!  God makes a way where there seems to be no way. No man can stop what God has intended to do. Praise God for that!

I see how people need real hope in a stress-filled life. There is hope for everyone and enough grace for each day, because I know, that I know that Jesus Christ is truly alive! The problem is that people get so busy and caught up in the cares of life, that they do not realize Jesus is truly the answer for every problem. They run to anything that brings short-term relief.  Only the truth shall set you free.

Nevertheless brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God. (Rom 15: 15)

God will help you overflow with hope in Him through the Holy Spirit’s power within you.  The world around, or the situation you are facing, may be dark, but God’s hope is there for a dark world. It’s there for your troubled heart. Upon the sick, He shines the ray of healing. For the confused, He offers His Word to stand on. For those who stand ready to judge others, He stands ready to offer you forgiveness. Just go to God with whatever is in your hands, He is the answer.

I miss my family tremendously and they are waiting for me to return next week. They went to the bush last weekend, on an African Safari. Aldo’s friend, Bradley, went with them, and how I praise God for a friend like him! This trip to Australia made me realize that it is not only in the bush that people need a guide to lead them. Here, in the city of Perth, I also see a lot of lost people. Maybe you also lost your way? Jesus is saying to you ...I am the way, I am the truth, and I am the life. In the bush it is important to have a guide to tell you where to go. He will never tell you exactly where to go, but he will say something like “follow me”, and then you need to trust him.

Jesus is our guide. Does He remove the bush? No, the vegetation is still thick. Does He kill all the dangerous animals? No, danger still lurks. Jesus doesn’t give hope by changing the bush or the situation. He gives hope by giving Himself. And He has promised to stay to the end - until the very end.

That gives me hope that I don’t need to put my trust in man, but only in God! Aldo always says: “Mom, don’t listen to the world. Only trust in God.”

It is God that hears us when we speak, even if it is sometimes only in a very soft whisper. We have His love behind us to cover us and His Holy Spirit inside us (with all His mighty power), to protect us. He gives us grace for sin, for our mistakes, even for making a wrong decision. There will be a light at the end of every dark tunnel waiting for us if we trust Him. The Word of God will be the anchor for every storm in our lives. You will feel His love tangibly, even though the world doesn’t have love to offer. This is the God we serve – a loving God.

On Friday, as I had to start the service, I looked up and saw Him smiling. “Thank you Retha, for not wavering to tell the truth. For only the truth shall set them free.”

It is late night at night in Australia and I have to go to bed, but I am still struggling to adjust to the time difference. I go on my knees and pray to God: “Please Lord, wipe away the tears from my eyes. I know that You are greater than the words of men, greater than what we see with our eyes, greater than our biggest hopes and dreams! It is all about you, it is all about you - the King that lives in us.”

“NEVER MISS A CHANCE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER”

May God bless your spirit.

 Love from Australia

Retha
