The day started,
I sit down and thank God for all of you that will read this letter.
My mind starts to drift away... for a moment I am in House Horizon.
The chef calls the children... "Let’s stand together and bow our heads."
Aldo, our oldest son, is in a safe place, a beautiful environment of people who give extra special care to those who need to be loved and taken care of.
We love to see how they start their mornings in the dorm as they all eat breakfast together.
At 8am they come together and stand in a circle taking hands and bowing their heads.
"Who has a special need this day?"
“I have...”
“What can I say to Jesus about your need?...”
“I need a hug...”
“I think I am sick...”
You wipe your tears and you know that you have to move on, the day has already started.
As we leave, I can still hear the chef speaking to Jesus about these beautiful children.
The day called "Mothers day," I will speak at Vredenheim, Feestafel Venue in Stellenbosch on 14 May 2025 to raise some funds for House Horizon. To book a ticket, please visit this link: https://www.huishorison.org.za/en/product/moedersdag-met-retah-mcpherson/
The celebration is "Extraordinary mothers."
Is that because of Aldo?
No, we all are extraordinary mothers.
I think of Mary – Jesus’s mother.
Mothers who carry more than they expected to carry, who walk a path that many do not understand, and who love with a depth that only heaven truly sees.
That kind of love is called Mother’s love.
The love that sees beyond.... that sees the stars so bright, sees the heaven so high, sees the kindness so gentle, as we all see the differences in our children, we see also the depth in their hearts.
They all carry a special gift - the gift of being who God designed them to be.
The heaviness for Mary was not the protection they needed, but the beautiful fragrance of what He carried - how do we protect that?
To say the least, the enemy went for Jesus, as long as she tried, she believed that she would be able to protect Him.
But the day arrived that she had to release Him into the hands of her Abba Father in heaven...
"Hallowed be They name above all names.
Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done as it is in heaven let it be on earth this day in all of our children's lives."
We will not always be there to protect them, so for now we start day by day to leave them in the hands and special care of Horizon - or where ever our children are right now, we pray God’s grace and protection over them.
But together we take hands today as parents and bow our heads and ask You, "Dear Jesus, will You please take hold of their hearts and lead them through this life. Let them see, hear and experience this dimensional shift as they grow in Christlikeness and believe the Word of the Lord written in their scroll."
There is a Josh, and an Aldo, as all of our children are different, so are the seasons all over the world right now.
Let’s embrace them where they are, in whatever season they find themselves.
Let’s celebrate life and continue to follow Jesus.
Thank you for walking this journey with us.
I thank God every day for you and pray the very same for you and your family.
Blessed be His Holy Name above all names.
Retah and family.
